Tell us your Kitten Rescue Story
This little fur ball has a unique personality all her own. Little "Pen Pen" was rescued by KR with her momma and littermates outside an apartment building. KR used live traps to rescue the little family and we were told that when KR returned for them, little Penny was in a cage separate from the rest of her litter, screaming her little head off. Perhaps it was this early scary experience, or perhaps she was just born cautious, but Penny is very diligent in making sure she will not be taken by surprise again. We met her one lazy weekend afternoon on a trip to the pet store for fish food. We had no plans of adopting a kitten that day, but she was the most precious little teeny tiny ball of white and grey fur, and when I saw her huddled in the corner of her crate as far from people as possible, I had an instant desire to win over this timid little creature. Upon arriving in her furever home, it took weeks, if not months, for her to decide once and for all that the giant humans who loudly trudged about the house were not going to eat her. It took endless patience and several pounds of fresh roasted turkey breast to win this little lady over. Our patience and effort with her really paid off! While her cautious nature means she will probably always jump at any new sound, and initially hide when faced with a new person or place, once you get to know her,s he loves to sit on your lap and has been known to be incredibly insistent when she wants her daily dose of love and scratches. I think she's picked up her chatty streak form her Siamese brother, Brennan, and now that she has her voice and her confidence, she's queen of the house! Her favorite activities include chasing the ever illusive "red dot," anything to do with cat nip, stealing water from unguarded glasses, and "stalking" the food in her bowl before eating. Princess Penny is my precious little scrady-cat and I'm so happy to know she's finally content and relaxed in her home!
