In November 2025, we welcomed Lyla into our home — a gentle golden retriever who had spent her early years as a breeding dog. When she first arrived, Lyla was painfully timid. Even the smallest sound made her flinch, and walks felt impossible. She would freeze on the sidewalk, too overwhelmed by the world beyond her safe space.

But slowly, everything changed. With patience, love, and encouragement, Lyla began to trust us and the world around her. Each day brought small victories: the first time she stepped into the elevator on her own, the first time she walked a full block without turning back, and eventually, the day she hopped onto the KW Pawtrip bus — tail wagging, ears perked, truly happy.

Today, Lyla has blossomed into a confident, curious, and loving girl. She loves her weekly bus rides, greeting her favourite drivers, and exploring parks and trails. At home, she enjoys quiet afternoons watching the world from the window and cozy naps on the couch. She still has her gentle, cautious side, but it only makes her story more special.

Lyla’s journey reminds us how resilient animals can be when shown kindness. From a frightened dog who couldn’t step outside, to a playful, trusting companion who loves life’s little adventures — Lyla has taught us about patience, hope, and the power of love.
