If there were a job description for “professional chaos coordinator”, my one-year-old German Shepherd would be overqualified. He’s convinced he’s a lap dog despite being the size of a small horse and personal space does not exist with him around. Every trip into the backyard begins with a full perimeter sweep, because protecting the property is a full time career. His preferred method of showing affection is launching his entire body into you without warning, followed by being bombarded with slobbery kisses. He’s got plenty to say too - he’ll argue back with dramatic grumbles and barks as if he’s winning every debate. He likes to hold his leash when we walk as if he’s the one taking you out. He instantly becomes attentive at the sound of “do you want a chicken stick”. Beneath all the noise, zoomies and questionable security alerts, he is the sweetest boy you’ll ever meet. He loves everyone he meets and has a heart that’s every bit as big as his personality. He is the biggest goofball and the best protector all at once. He’s loud, dramatic, energetic, and a little bit unhinged but life would be far too quiet and boring without him.
