FAQs

Do I have to live in Langley to enter the contest?
You do not need to live in Langley to enter, however you must be able to attend the photoshoot, or be comfortable designating an adoptable animal in your pet’s stead. If you’re voting from outside the province—or even outside Canada—thank you! While your pet must reside (or have resided) in B.C. to enter, votes can come from anywhere in the world.

Does my pet have to be adopted from LAPS to enter the contest?
Not at all. All domestic animals are welcome. Wild and exotic animals are not permitted, and photos must show the animal in a safe, comfortable, and appropriate environment.

My pet has passed away. Can I still enter them?
Yes, absolutely. If your pet wins and is no longer with us, you will have the option to select a LAPS adoptable animal to take their place in the calendar photoshoot, so long as the adoptable animal is emotionally suited to the experience.

Do I need to submit professional photos?
No. The top 13 winners will receive a professional photo shoot, so your entry photo doesn’t need to meet calendar-quality standards. However, it must not show any signs of animal distress or discomfort. If LAPS staff determine the image may depict distress (e.g., fearful body language, unsafe setting), we’ll reach out and ask you to submit another.

How do I change my entry photo?
Easy! Just email your new image, along with a link to your contest entry, to kelsi.sutton@lapsbc.ca and we’ll take care of the update.

What if there is a tie?
If there’s a tie for the final placement, those contestants will be entered into a draw. The winner of the draw will receive the final calendar spot or prizing.

How is the bonus calendar spot awarded?
Every participant receives one entry into a draw for every $100 raised. At the end of the contest, one winner will be selected to receive the 13th calendar placement.

Will my donors receive a tax receipt?
Yes. Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more, unless otherwise requested. Please allow up to 4 weeks after the contest ends for receipts to be processed and emailed.

Who can I contact for help?
We're happy to assist. Email kelsi.sutton@lapsbc.ca with any questions, concerns, or photo updates.
