I’d like to introduce myself—I’m Virgil, called “Buck” for short. Last year, my big sister, Charlotte (aka “Firecracker Kitty”) exploded on the scene. She’s a great sis, but I prefer a calmer, more studious approach to life.

My mom had just lost her dad when she came to LCHS to donate some things for the benefit of the animals there. They had just rescued me from a bad situation, and I was shy and frightened. Mom loves cats, but I didn’t know that—or her—at that point. She was obviously smitten with my intelligent demeanor and dignified good looks, but she was pretty presumptuous, insisting on petting and holding me before we had been properly introduced. I promptly bit her finger to keep a proper distance since we had just met. It was love at first bite.

Now I’m settled into my quiet routine amongst the books. I particularly enjoy the ancient classics, and my favorite author is Cato the Elder.

I would be honored and gratified should I be chosen to represent my species in the 2019 LCHS calendar as the Leon County Humane Society saved my life.
