A little about me...
On January 3, 2023, five year old Willard was acting a little “off.” Mom and dad rushed him to the vet and by the time they arrived, he was not using his back legs. The vet determined that as a result of IVDD, one of the discs in Willard’s spine had calcified and burst causing what they characterized as “catastrophic” damage. Willard had emergency surgery the following day which left him paralyzed, completely incontinent and very very sad. It has been a long journey, but due to his phenomenal vet care team and his tenacity (but mostly from his raging FOMO), Willard has regained quite a bit of his function. He’s working on balance, building strength again in his back legs and is still hopeful to regain a little bit of feeling and more function in his hind feet, but he took his first wobbly walk around the neighborhood last weekend! So pleased to be independently mobile again, he now is back to his favorite pastimes: chasing squirrels and birds, barking at neighbors, and playing with his little sister. He just has to be careful to not take corners too fast, or he’ll tip over!!
