A little about me...
Trooper the dog was rescued by Highway Patrol Officer Morales when he was found abandoned and tied to a pole in rising flood water during Hurricane Milton. He was quickly taken in by Leon County HS and nursed back to health by it’s staff and foster volunteers. Carla and I were then selected as his adoptive family in large part due to our 33 years of experience raising exclusively Bull Terriers. Trooper had some obstacles to overcome, like Mast Cell Tumors, and an endoscopy to remove 2 pounds of junk in his stomach, but he came through both like a real Trooper. Trooper has become quite the media sensation, appearing on news reports all over the globe. He was recognized by our local government at a ceremony and bestowed the honor of “Parkland’s favorite dog”. At that ceremony, Sgt. Scheetz of the Florida HP presented him with a Badge, making him a “ Junior Trooper” of the Florida Highway Patrol. On May 28, 2025, Governor DeSantis formally signed TROOPER’S LAW into effect, making it a felony to abandon a dog during a natural disaster. While Trooper’s life had a rocky beginning, he is making an impact in the world, and living his best life now.
