Shortly before I moved to Florida, my 11 year old German Shepard, Sonny Boy choked on a bone and died. I made it clear to family and friends that I could not get attached to another dog because the loss of Sonny Boy broke my heart. Until I found out from neighbors that a little dog named Honey adopted that day has run away from the new adopted parents and 30 volunteers were out looking for her. The next day I found out Honey was found but the new adopted parents decided not to keep her. I learned that Honey was a Maltese mix, about 4 years old and was rescued along with 35 other "breeding" dogs. Her life till this point was horrible. I contacted Underdog Rescue and we had our first meeting........Honey was very shy but so sweet. She became mine a few days later and it was one of the best decisions of my life. She can still be shy with strangers but not with me. She greets me with such happiness it almost makes cry. Her hair has grown back, her tail is up and she started to play with a dog toy. Little by little her life is kind. I renamed her Sophia and we are best friends.
I will always be thankful to Underdog Rescue for this union!
