I adopted Effie from LCHS a year ago. She was recovering from a leg amputation and subsequent respiratory infection. Her foster mom, Amy Raddar, described her as "the perfect companion animal," and that has turned out to be true.

Effie is very enthusiastic about food, which is why we gave her the initials "E.A.T." She is otherwise laid back and likes to be held, purrs loudly, and snores loudly, too!

I have enrolled Effie as a comfort animal in our local Visiting Pet Program in which we "work" as a team, going to hospitals and senior care facilities once a month. At first she seemed concerned that I had brought her there to give her away, but now she understands that she has a job to do, which is letting people pet her and sweet-talk her. Some of these new friends have said she is the prettiest cat they've ever seen. One of them once asked me if I ever enter her in shows. Maybe someday there will be a cat show for cats who are handi-capable like Effie!

In her free time, Effie enjoys playing with balls and watching golf and hockey on television.
