Animal's Story/Bio
This sweet girl Princess Leia (Blanca) became a special part of our family last year! After a tough life of living on the streets and dog fights she was left in a box with her puppies at the gates of Evolucion Sanctuary in Merida, Mexico. Soon after, she made the long trip to Canada and into the kind hands of the LCHS to begin healing. After meeting Blanca we knew we needed to foster her, however her difficult journey was not over yet. One week into her stay with us she needed surgery to repair a broken hip sustained from the streets of Mexico. Once she recovered we adopted her (yay foster fail!). After a few months this once anxious & timid girl learned to trust humans again, fully recover and finally blossom into the intelligent, fearless and loyal character of her namesake Princess Leia.

Why you should vote? Princess is a true fighter overcoming many challenges rescue dogs face like fear of other dogs, loud noises and new situations. She has exceeded all expectations in terms of house training and obedience and has been a great role model to our friends,family and the community to advocate for the fostering/adoptions of rescue dogs. We love to bring Leia to the dog parks, her favourite Pet Valu (Pendale!) and the bookstore to meet with lots of people and dogs to share her story and we feel like she would be a great dog model for the LCHS!
