Your Pet's Story or Bio
During my freshman year of University, I volunteered at an animal rescue that was later shut down, with the owner facing seven counts of animal cruelty. That’s where I found Henry. He was severely malnourished, filled with worms, and covered in feces. He had no access to the outdoors and was living in total neglect. I still remember the heartbreak of watching him receive a "vaccine" where the needle fell off the syringe and stayed in his skin. I knew I couldn’t leave him there.

At the time, I was 3,000 miles from home, in a new country, a full-time student, and a student-athlete on the women’s ice hockey team. It wasn’t the "logical" time to adopt a dog, but I did whatever it took to give him the life he deserved.

Since then, Henry has been my rock. Through four years, two universities, four apartments, two dorm rooms, surviving a global pandemic together, he’s been the one constant. Today, we finally have that backyard I always dreamt of for him. I thought I was the one doing the rescuing, but looking back, Henry was the one saving me all along.

I hope Henry’s story finds the girl who needs a sign to rescue that dog.
