About Us

Founded in 1873, the Lowell Humane Society is one of the oldest humane organizations in Massachusetts. The purpose of the Society shall be to provide shelter, prevent cruelty to animals, and advocate for their welfare. Through humane education, the Society strives to enlighten the public with the goal of improving the quality of life for animals and people. The Society is a private not for profit organization and does not receive any local, state or federal funding. Operations are supported through the generous support of individuals, businesses and foundations.
