Our sweet Rodney had recently been living the life of an elderly dachshund with his 13-year-old sister Maggie. Even after her loss, Rodney preferred to sleep the day away. Desiring to continue a rescue journey, I started looking for a new friend for Rodney. It didn’t take long before a pair of soulful brown eyes stared deep into my heart from a rescue page. Sadly, Chappy (as we now call him) had been put outside daily by his owner, to run the streets alone. After being picked up and returned a third time by animal control, with a hefty fine, the disgusted owner said, “He’s not worth it. Just keep him.” Poor Chappy. Oh, how he needed a family to show him he IS “worth it.” And how Rodney needed a buddy to help him realize that life is worth living, not just existing. It was a match made in Heaven! Our beloved young Chappy (fun fact, 11.4% dachshund) and Rodney became instant friends. They love to wrestle, play ball, chase geckos, snuggle, and take walks together. There’s no more sleeping all day for Rodney. It’s more like sleeping with one eye open, never wanting to miss a minute of fun with his brother!
