Pet's Story or Bio
Spud grew up in South Carolina for about 11 years. When his owner passed, Spud and his 2 brothers were brought to a local shelter. New York Second Chance rescue transported the 3 brothers to NYC in hopes they would be adopted. Spud’s brothers were adopted but unfortunately, Spud was not. Spud has very few teeth, congestive heart failure, and limited use of his back legs due to joint and muscle deterioration. He is also 4 pounds in a big world, so to protect himself, he growls and barks at all dogs and people - which was off putting to potential adopters. My fiancé and I foster with Wag On Inn rescue but decided we wanted to give Spud some comfort and stability in what could be his last few years. We took a break from fostering and adopted Spud in June 2021. It took a few months but Spud warmed up to us and my maltipoo, Ollie. He now lives the good life on cozy blankets and sunbathes on the bay. What he lacks in size he makes up for in personality. He makes us laugh every day with his adorable smile and he loves to be cuddled. We love him so much and would be so proud to have him featured on the Long Way Home Adoptable calendar!
