Teddy was adopted from a campground in Moab, Utah at just 8 weeks old. I was passing through on a road trip from my Summer internship in Idaho back to NYC, and before settling into my tent for the evening, the campground owner announced that they are giving away puppies from a recent litter, and would I like to bring home a new addition to my family? I thought nothing of it that night, but when came time to check out of the campground the next morning, curiosity got the best of me and I pulled over to a fenced-in area where a bunch of teeny fluff balls were wobbling and hopping all over. I just happened to pick up the one closest to me, and held him to my chest. And at that moment I fell in love. He seemed so comfortable and secure in my hands, his little heart beating, and he was perfectly still. The owner said his name was Teddy, and that was it. Within minutes I had made a makeshift carrier out of cardboard and newspaper, and I was driving 6 miles down the dusty road to the nearest veterinarian's office to get Teddy McScrappy B. his first round of shots. He slept the entire 5 days on the road back to NYC.
