Pet's StoryLiam is an Irish Setter/Poodle mix that was born in March 2011. When he was two years old, I took him to a local training facility's open house so that we could try out an agility course. Instead, we were encouraged to take a Canine Good Citizen test. Liam passed, and the trainer giving the test gave us his card and asked one simple question "Have you ever thought about doing therapy work with Liam? He is so calm." Since then, we've graduated from Divine Canines and now volunteer as a certified therapy team. Liam visits hospitals, senior assisted living centers, and state facilities. His favorite site to visit, though, is the school because he gets to lay on a dog bed while kids read to him.
One of the things that makes Liam stand out on his site visits is that fact that he likes to wear hats. When he cruises down the hall of the hospital wearing a bow tie and a Fedora, people can't help but smile. It's a simple, silly thing...wearing a hat...but it never fails to brighten someone's day!
