Pet's StoryEmma is 11 years old now. I have had her for 10 1/2 of those years. She is a rescue and only has three legs in the end rescued me. I was working as a new vet tech. She came in the office with a broken leg and the owner couldn't afford amputation so threatened to take her home and amputate himself. We had him sign over his ownership to the vet clinic. She was with us for a day and at the time I didn't have a dog. Another tech was carrying her around the clinic and came by me. Emma reached out and put her paw on me. I looked at her she looked at me and I knew she was mine. This was a crazy decision for me because I had just lost my older brother and was not handling the loose well. Attachment was not something I thought I was ready for. Emma ended up having her rear leg amputated. It scared me so bad. I had never seen a dog get around with an amputated leg. Within 3 weeks she was running and jumping just like any dog with 4 legs. Seeing this helped me mourn my brothers death. Her drive and love for life was not stopped by her only having three legs. I always say Emmas drive to live life to the fullest showed me that no matter what the obstacle don't stop living life to the fullest enjoy every minute.
