Pet's Story or Bio
Meiomi was a pedigreed 9 yr old brown tabby Maine coon girl . She was returned to her breeder because she was too affectionate and I adopted her. She also had a full mouth extraction of her teeth. She was a quiet girl but could she purr. Not a lap cat but she was always near by. When I was sitting still or lying in bed, she would come and knead me with her claws extended. Had to wear a sweatshirt or have bedding between me and her claws. Her biggest quirk had to do with eating. Her food had to be piled in a mound for her to eat from the bowl or plate. If it was spread out, Meiomi would snag the canned food with the claws of one of her front paws and eat the food from her paw. It took her a long time before she would come for snacks--a cat with low self esteem. I would call her and tell her it is OK for her to have snacks and treats. Eventually she learned and came for treats on her own. She never did learn to eat from my fingers. I had to put bits of roast beef or deli turkey either on a plate or the floor. She always slept on the bed and close to me--either to the right or left of me at near my shoulders and would let me put an arm around her. She died of an aggressive abdominal tumor on September 23, 2024. Her nickname was Coonlet.
