Nine years ago today (9/9/13) we adopted Winnie as a companion to our old dog who had lost his life long partner the year before. She had been a stray and at M.A.M.A.S for about six months. Old, broken down and sad, with multiple health issues, she was cared for so tenderly until a woman from Vermont finally adopted her. Unfortunately, eight months later (through no fault of her adopter) Winnie's life changed again. I had no intention of having another dog yet, but her bio said "Urgent". I introduced our dog Barley to Winnie and the rest was fate! Winnie was a magical being - an old soul - and one of the most extraordinary and special dogs I have ever met. She was only with us a year & 9 months before she died, but she was very happy - and our lives have never been the same.
