Mateo was living with a foster and her family when they found out that his adopters had backed out last minute. He was going to have to go back to the shelter if someone didn’t adopt him quickly, as the family were going away for the Christmas holiday. I was smitten by his photo and his story, and while getting him to me in Vermont was no easy feat, the wonderful people at MAMAS pulled together a trip for him including car rides, a train, and even a plane ride! He’s living a wonderful life with his two big sisters (also adopted from MAMAS), Gypsy and Kaylee.
