Pet's Story or Bio
Ellie, originally named Shelby, was dropped off at Mamas along with 2 other puppies in the winter of 2014. My wife and I signed up to adopt and were one of the lucky ones selected. We picked Ellie up Jan 31st of 2015 from the caravan when she was about 11 weeks old and it has been great ever since. This pic is of her in the first few weeks of us having her in a very cold winter of 2015 here in the Northern VA suburbs of DC when we had the arctic vortex, so single digit highs during the day, hence why she is wearing a coat in the pic but really just for the pic as she looked very cute in it. Her natural coat is cute as well of-course and she even has some cold dog breed in her to handle any arctic vortex. We that found out as we were so curious as to what breed she might be that we did the DNA test a couple months after we adopted her. It turned out our little 6 pound puppy now fully grown at a "whopping" 18 pounds is one side Bijon and Finnish Spitz and the other side Golden Retriever and St. Bernard (not a typo). She has the hair of the Golden and the size of the Bijon, so not really sure where the St. Bernard fits in, but the combination made one great dog.
Ellie is now getting close to 2 years old (we submitted a more current pic as well so keep an eye out for her other one) and has been w/ us for about a year and a half and of-course we couldn't be happier. She is a great dog - well behaved and extremely friendly to everyone. She loves to play, get belly rubs, and cuddle, as well as greet the neighbors and chase the squirrels out of our vegetable garden. We are very grateful to Mamas for the work they do and the countless lives they save and enrich through their efforts.
