Pet's Story or Bio
I was lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time! I had gone to a fundraiser at Molly's Country Kennels in Lansdale and saw a photo album of
dogs that needed fostering. I instantly fell in love with (Andy/Scout) and knew in my heart and soul (just from the photo) that he was a special dog!! He was posted by the wonderful rescue "Almost Home"! I made arrangements to have him driven up from South Carolina to Skippack, PA. When he came to me, I knew that he had a bad leg. He had been hit by a car or something and was found wandering the train tracks in SC when he was lucky enough to be transported to M.A.M.A.'S. When he arrived, I noticed he held his left back leg up and did not use it. Even so, he was as happy as can be!! His whole body shakes when he's happy and has definitely knocked a cup or two off the table with his happy tail.
Once I had him home, I took him to the "Almost Home" rescue vet where they took x-rays. The Vet said she could not believe how happy Scout was as he had bone fragments all through his leg and must be in terrible pain. She said the leg had to come off and luckily her husband was the chief orthopedic surgeon at the Vet Hospital in Langhorne, PA. Well, Scout came through the operation like a trooper! He was wagging his tail right after surgery. The nurses & doctors all exclaiming what a wonderful spirit and happy disposition Scout has. Needless to say, Scout and I became attached at the hip. At that moment, looking into Scoutie's little bear eyes - I knew I had become a foster failure.
He is doing wonderfully now and jumps higher and runs faster than my other 2 rescue dogs that have 4 legs. Till this day, I have never seen Scout in a bad mood. He runs to me every day, shaking his whole body and holding his favorite stuffed "hedge hog" in his mouth. He loves, loves, loves to play fetch and could do it all day long. I am truly blessed with the most wonderful, happy boy a mama could ask for! Thank you for the opportunity and thank you M.A.M.A.'S shelter for all the wonderful work you do on behalf of rescue animals...... .Kimberly
