Pet's Story or Bio
I was devestated last December when our beloved dog died suddenly in a tragic accident. I was heart broken to say the least. I started right away looking for another Border Collie, much to my husbands dismay. Prior to the accident, we said that when we wanted another dog we would go through the resue agency we had already used because they did such a great job picking out the perfect dog for us the first time. But, of course they did not have one for that would fit out needs. And the house was so empty without our dog....I could not wait--and he did not understand!

One day I looked on Petfinder for another Border Collie-and there she was. Her name was Pam (same as my daughters) -and her eyes were beautiful. She was part Border Collie, and was just described as a "happy dog". Despite my husband insistance on wanting a dog that has been fostered in a home already (to know more personality details) he conceded and let me inquire more on the dog at MAMAS. He knew how much I had loved my dog, my job was particularly difficult at this time, and my daughter was moving 4,800 miles away and I was a wreck. I needed a dog NOW!

So, on Christmas Eve 2014, we drove 4 hours to MAMAS to pick up our new girl. I could not believe how dedicated the staff at MAMAS was. There they were on Christmas Eve, waiting for us, and doing what they do everyday--taking great care of animals in need. I could see how attached Pam had become to one of the men that was there. Apparently she had been there for 4 months. A comment was made that they did not understand why she had not been scooped up by a shelter up north that they partner with. I didn't understand what they meant then- but now I do--MAMAS on the Move is a FANTASTIC group doing a FANTASTIC job!!!!

Anyway, I knew why she was there--she was there for me! Of course we had to rename her, and at first whe was very shy, very scared and slightly aggressive in our home. My husband was about to give up on her when we took her to be around other dogs and people. It was then that she snapped out of her "shelter shock" and became social. Now I understand what a difficult job some people undertake when they foster a dog! After 2 weeks she came out of her funk and has since become a very loyal, attentative, smart and happy velcro dog. Her personality grows and matures everyday!

She is always at my side now, waits eagerly to great me when I get home, and I trust her to be calm and gentle in every situation and around all other people and animals. She is a true sweetheart and has totally captured both of our hearts!
