Makalu (Mak) was named after the 5th highest mountain in the world, Mt. Makalu in the Himalayas. His favorite hikes are in the White Mountains of NH. In October, 2025, Mak was diagnosed with bone cancer, and had his rear right leg amputated. Within a month, he was back to his favorite things - hiking and trail running with his owner. One of Mak's best qualities is his ability to spread joy to everyone he meets. He is the most loving, compassionate, and kind soul.
