My husband was going through cancer treatments and just had a major surgery. I work all day and he was really missing having a dog (we lost our 17 year old husky a couple years ago). It was time. We wanted to get a rescue knowing there were so many needing homes and my husband loves the cattle dog breed. I wanted something smaller. Husband found Maggie online at the shelter and we went to visit her. He instantly fell in love. Brought her home and she settled right in. She has been a huge help in my husbands recovery mentally and physically since she is high energy, she needs daily walks and play. I don’t think he would have bounced back so quickly without her help. Bonus for me is that she is a miniature, so I ended up with the smaller size dog I was hoping for.
