Daisy was my very first foster dog through MARR. Despite my best intentions and lofty dreams, Daisy and I were not instant friends. She spent most of the 30-minute ride home from transport growling at me through her crate. I got to my house, and, thinking we would be having an extended introduction due to her less-than-appreciative attitude, I pulled her crate out and just sat by her in the driveway. I played on my phone, while she stared at me and sniffed through the ventilation holes. It wasn't too long before she heaved a big sigh, and pawed at the crate door. Okay... let's give this a try, I thought. I cautiously open the door, and readied myself to grab the leash attached to her collar. She's either going be be okay....or run for the hills....or eat me, I figured. She creeps slowly out as I back away. She slinks around a bit, then approaches me and gives me a sniff. I see a tiny....and I mean tiny... wiggle of her stub of a tail, and then I knew that we would both survive this introduction. I took her to the yard, and upon my removal of the leash, she looks at me like Santa just brought Christmas and then takes off at a dead run, making huge circles in the grass and panting with that beautiful broad Rottie smile. :) Daisy overcame many things and was adopted by a wonderful couple.
