About Us

Founded in San Diego, California in 2009, the mission of Miracle Babies is dedicated to helping perinatal mothers and their families during their time of need by providing transportation, mental health assistance, and supportive services. Our tagline is "Together for a better beginning," reflecting the importance of this family connection in the critical early weeks and months of an infant's life and it's linkage to improved health outcomes. We know we can change health outcomes if we remove the barriers to parents being with their babies.
With support from our donors, Miracle Babies had this impact since COVID-19:

• purchase 4 new shuttles to transport families to and from the NICU,
• provide more than 3,600 rides totaling more than 150,000 miles to families with babies in the ICU,
• deliver over 5,500 care packages,
• and distribute more than 1,000,000 diapers to more than 8,000 San Diego families
  
  

Miracle Babies launched TRANSPORTATION services for parents with hospitalized babies in June of 2020. Transportation services to Children's Hospital Los Angeles was launched in March of 2021. 

We have learned through our financial assistance surveys that 89% of families use assistance to cover transportation and hospital parking fees. To meet the immediate transportation needs of mothers who cannot drive upon discharge because of c-section deliveries, pregnancy complications, or financial barriers and who have hospitalized babies we are investing in transportation services. Providing transportation during those critical first days/weeks of a baby's life can dramatically impact the well-being of both the new mother and the baby, since it enables increased opportunities for the mother and NICU baby to be together for breastfeeding and kangaroo care.



In response to the financial stress the COVID-19 pandemic has placed on families, we host drive-thru diaper distributions for families in Southern California.



Miracle Babies Care packages are distributed to NICU families regardless of need. These care packages provide comfort items so parent can spend more time crib-side and resources to address the numerous needs of their critically ill newborns.

Miracle Babies hosts weekly parent hours in local hospitals where a meal and crafting activity for all NICU families is provided. Miracle Hours offer parents an escape from the stress and isolation of the NICU and an opportunity to engage with other parents in similar situations. Due to COVID-19, Miracle Babies has had to pivot to online support for families. 

Miracle Babies launched a new maternal mental health program (My Brain & My Baby) in May of 2022! My Brain & My Baby is designed to provide no cost, individual and group therapy, support and resources to referred perinatal mothers.
