Squirt was adopted 5 years ago. She was already 10 years old (+/-) when she was picked up as a stray. I was working at a local shelter at the time that was 99% medium - x large dogs. This rescue was no place for a 5 lb miniature pinscher. So I brought her home as a foster while we waited for her stray hold to pass. I knew by the end of her stray hold I never wanted her to leave. It was truly love at first sight.
The day I brought her home she walked in with such a confidence that my own dogs just accepted her immediately, it was like she had always been there.
Not one day passed without her making me smile. Until recently when I had to let her go. She had CHF and her body was just tired.
She was my everything.
