Adoption Story:
When you adopt, people often ask, "Why this one?" It probably had something to do with how Copurrnicus lay in my arms purring the first time we met. When I put him back into his cage, he meowled indignantly, grabbing at me through the bars. A staff member thought he was lonely and put him into another cage with another kitten. Instead, C swatted that kitty into a corner. Laughing, I pulled him back out. His hisses dissolved into a rumbling purr I could feel through his entire 4 lb. body. He stayed like that, sprawled on my arm as if it were a tree branch, for another hour.

I was smitten.

C no longer fits on my forearm, but he’s grown into a curious, friendly, and fearless fella. To my never-ending dismay, he creates his own adventures - getting stuck behind the washer, waking me with 4am zoomies, and climbing balcony railings and kitchen cabinets. He's smart too - he knows to come when called, sit, and paw. Our second week together, I took him on a road trip, camping and hiking near Jim Thorpe. We've gone on a lot of adventures since then (flying across the country, kayaking, camping, rock climbing, moving to another state). He was even featured in a New York Times article!

He's taught me to slow down and sniff the flowers, to listen and communicate carefully. He gives me a reason to get out of bed (mostly to feed him breakfast). He's shown me unconditional love.

A friend called us "two peas in a pod". I look forward to seeing how we continue to grow older together.
