Pet's Story or Bio
In 2016 I convinced my widowed mother to adopt a cat for company. She adopted a beautiful tabby she named Precious. Although a kitten, Precious had such a lung infection that she passed away while the vet was trying to intubate her. Although heartbroken, I convinced my mother to adopt another kitten, reasoning that the same thing wasn't likely to happen twice. That's how she ended up with Sunshine in early 2017. She explained that the cat had brought sunshine back into her lonely life. For a woman who never wanted pets, she fell more in love with this cat that I ever would have guessed possible, delighting in Sunshine's playfulness and boundless energy. Sadly, my mother passed away herself two days before Christmas in 2017 and since I was the one who talked her into adopting a cat, I inherited Sunshine. It only took about a year for my old calico Sierra to warm up to Sunny, as I sometimes call her. Maybe two. I took this photo of Sunshine recently when she wasn't feeling well and we visited the vet at the Ludlow Street heart + paw here in Philly. She was fidgety and was walking off the scale. She's all better now, though, and back to tormenting Sierra and my third cat, Jasmine. Sierra still hasn't figured that out, but Sunshine has and will tiptoe around her and sometimes cautiously tap the top of Jasmine's head and then run away before Jazzy can strike back. Bad kitty!
