Pet's Story or Bio
I’m a Bichon-Maltese mix rescue. I’m almost five years old. The first two years of my life were tough being passed around from owner to owner because they thought I was super cute and tiny that it would be easy to take care of me. Little did they know I require a lot of gentle handling, lots of activity and, as my mommy came to find out, I’m a demanding little diva requiring lots of attention, love and care. Unfortunately, my previous owners did not understand my needs; I was kept inside a cage for days, left alone and when I pushed back I was hit with plastic bags and put back inside the cage. The time I ended up at the shelter was when I was hit by a male figure for speaking up because as I tried to defend myself I bit him and that was my direct ticket to the shelter. At the shelter, I was labeled as an aggressive dog and placed on death row. Luckily, the Bichon Fur Kids rescue in SolCal stepped up, rescued me and, provided the needed care and training. They also helped me find my furever home with mommy. Mommy continued to train me the basics: sit, stay, shake and roll for treats in addition to teaching me how to walk on a leash, how to enjoy our walks and to enjoy playing at the park. Mommy also worked very hard and patiently to gain my trust and taught me it is ok to trust hoomans again and men in particular and that it is okay to speak up if I’m not comfortable with some. I am now living the life I deserve. I am Mommy’s only fur baby and I get all the attention, love and care I deserve. I even go to daycare sometimes too and I love playing with other little ones like me. I have come out of my shell and although, I am still working on my plastic bag fear I am happy as can be and enjoying a beautiful, safe and loving life with my mommy. I am just glad we found each other and living the life a little diva like me deserves ;O)
