Pet's Story or Bio
I adopted Ryu five years ago this May. He was found abandoned on the street, hardly unable to move, critically, underweight, barely any hair, and with an unknown upper respiratory issue to name a few. The vet determined he was approx 7 to 8 years old. He was extremely depressed, terrified of men and most things, had no motivation to eat, play or even bark. Initially I discovered he would only eat if I chewed or licked his food! I kept him with me 24/7 for the first two years, he became part of my work crew. Everyone participated in his recovery. By that, I mean, held him, walked him, tried to teach him to play, and overcome his fears. When they say it takes a village, we’ll it took a squad and some. It was two years before he actually barked for the first time! With the help of friends, co-workers and family, Ryu overcame some of his fears. Today, he is a much happier doggie. He’s had numerous health challenges, from compressed neck vertebrates, neurological challenges, knee replacement, and digestive issues that just won’t quit, But we continue to tackle them together. He loves riding in my sling and goes just about everywhere with me undetected, loves to sunbathe in the afternoon and make sure everyone knows he’s the boss for the most part. Ryu still has fears and behavior typical of abuse but day by day he is improving. I can not express how much this tiny little boy has impacted my heart and life. I’ve had many dogs and cats throughout my life BUT this little soul was a miracle! The connection with him is like no other I have ever felt. He is definitely a Mama’s boy ♥️
