Darby was one of several dogs seen dumped from a car on the streets of Corona last January 2019. As the car sped off, a couple of good samaritans witnessed what happened and proceeded to round up & rescue all the dogs. Ultimately, the couple started the process of rehoming the dogs. My husband & I heard of the dogs plight and welcomed a terribly traumatized and fearful Darby into our home. It became immediately clear that he had never walked on leash, was unfamiliar with toys and how to play and had been terribly neglected both physically and emotionally. He seemed extremely overwhelmed with the outside world including birds, grass, his own reflection, most humans and other dogs. Seven months of our love, medical care and attention alone did not seem to be enough to help him adjust & alleviate his severe anxiety. We decided some professional intervention & positive reinforcement training was needed. With lots of hard work & patience Darby is a healthier, happier pooch today. We love him and his little buddy “Tucker” dearly.
P.S. We adopted “Tucker” on the same day last January. He was also dumped on the street along with Darby but together they have supported each other on this journey toward a happy and anxiety-free life. 💕
