My family adopted Zombie from MWHS two years ago to be a pal for our resident cat, Katniss. As a formal feral cat who had never been in a home, it took him a while to adjust, but he did, and is now a loving member of the family who adores Katniss and interacts with us including some petting time. Still hard to get him in a carrier, though.
