It has been over twelve years since our wedding reception at the Prado in Balboa Park, and to this day, we still get compliments. People tell us it was the most beautiful wedding they’ve ever been to, which is a staggering compliment. I believe the history, spectacular architecture and ambience at the Prado caused this affect. It didn’t hurt that it was another gorgeous, sunny San Diego day, and a flamenco guitar player cast romance upon our guests as they mingled around the fountain. When the doors opened to the reception room, our guests were further spellbound. Nine feet tall iron candelabras flickered candlelight, rich tapestries hung on the walls, and table tops flowed with cascading floral centerpieces. I found the room had so much elegance and character on its own, that it needed very little extra décor on my part. The service by the staff was superb, as was the quality of the food, provided by the Cohen Group. Our guests numbered over three hundred people. Only true professionals can provide table service to that many at one time. Working with the wedding coordinators at the Prado was phenomenal as well. I cannot claim a single hitch or headache from our pre-planning meetings through our entire event.

Now when we visit Balboa Park, we are overwhelmed that we got to share in a small part of its history. Our wedding was only one day at the Prado, but the memories will last a lifetime.
