Alcazar Garden

Share your Love Story
Our story is a special one. We both grew up here locally and attended the same schools. It's weird we never shared a classroom or met during those early years, but three decades later we became friends on facebook and It was love at first sight.

Allow me to set the scene; The plan was just to have dinner in the park, I dropped Bonnie off at the Plaza de Panama and asked her to wait there while I parked the car. Then I quickly grabbed my “Will You Marry Me” banner and headed to the Alcazar Garden. As I was hanging up my banner a group of tourists asked, who’s getting married? I said, I am, and gave them my camera as they enthusiastically took over the scene and anxiously waited for my return. Then I hurried to get Bonnie and told her I wanted to show her something, but she had to wear a blindfold first. I guided Bonnie into the Alcazar Garden where my banner was hanging, which was directly behind me. As Bonnie removed her blindfold she wondered why all the park visitors were looking at us. Then she saw the banner and that's when I proposed! This photo is Bonnie's reaction.

I chose the Alcazar Garden in Balboa Park, because Bonnie's great uncle was the garden's caretaker many years ago. It’s a beautiful garden and I knew it was a special place in her heart.
