Share your Love Story
After falling in love with the Casa del Rey Moro Garden for my wedding site, I had to convince my parents to let us get married there. It wasn't a church after all. I took my mom to lunch at the Cafe del Rey Moro on a Saturday knowing there would be a wedding and, as we watched, Mom came to understand why I love Balboa Park and the garden. She eventually brought my dad around and on April 7th, 1979, my husband and I were married in front of our friends and family and the wishing well so beautifully embraced by the natural setting. Many years later, while visiting a museum for a school project with my daughter, I showed her where her parent were married. She immediately said that was where she wanted to get married. Thirty-five years later, on August 31st, 2014, my daughter Karina and her husband Travis were married where her parents started their life together. It was such a special moment for me to watch my husband and our daughter take the same walk that my dad and I had taken years before. I know that Dad was watching from heaven. It also meant a lot to us that many of the same people that were there to celebrate Peter and my marriage were also there for Karina and Travis. Balboa Park will always hold a special place in our hearts and, who knows, perhaps a child of Karina and Travis will continue the tradition.
