We are the second generation of "Anna and Robert" to marry in Anna's family tree. Anna's grandparents were also named Robert and Anna, and Anna is lucky enough to wear her grandmother's engagement and wedding ring set everyday now. Anna's grandmother passed away shortly after we were engaged, and we decided to honor that family connection by incorporating a 1930s vintage theme into our special day. (The "first" Anna and Robert got engaged in 1938 - 75 years before we did!)

We're also both numbers nerds, so we decided to get married on the most important Pi Day of the century (March 14th, 2015, or 3.1415, for the math nerds). There was never any question that we would marry in Balboa Park. It has been special to us since the beginning of our relationship. One of our earliest real dates was to the Old Globe, and we have been to the park many times since then. Balboa Park also retains much of its same look from its remodel ahead of the 1935 California Pacific International Exposition. It was perfect in every way for our our ceremony.

Our friend officiated for us. He is a police officer for the State of California. We joked that our wedding date was especially appropriate for a Balboa Park ceremony. In our research into Balboa Park in the 1930s, we discovered a little-known fact about the park during the Exposition. Balboa Park actually hosted a nudist colony in 1935! This fact, coupled with our friend's knowledge that "314" is California Penal Code for indecent exposure, led us to this photo. It is our playful tribute to an authentic 1930s Balboa Park experience!

Don't worry! Our officiant really does have a suit on under his trench coat. It's a credit to our fantastic photographer that you would never know that fact from the end result!

We hope you've enjoyed this brief "exposure" to our love story and into what our Balboa Park wedding means to us!

Love,
Anna + Robert
