Your Pet's Rescue StoryOzzy's rescue story is more about how he rescued us than our adopting and rescuing him; I guess you could say that we rescued each other.
Having grown up with dogs as an integral part of our homes, my husband and I knew how special a pet is in a child's life and family. Having a son that was fearful of dogs was a challenge. He wanted a dog, but it was also a new and unknown experience. The day we met Ozzy, all of that changed.
We were set on adoption; buying a dog simply was not an option. For this reason, we visited the Pet Alliance and shelters every weekend to find a dog, or rather for a dog to choose us. When we saw Ozzy, there was an instant connection. The volunteer at the time brought Ozzy into the visiting room, and once he was placed on the ground he tore off, straight to our son's arms. He made yelps of joy and jumped in his lap as if he already knew him. The smile on our son's face and Ozzy's rapidly wagging tail said it all. As they sat together, Ozzy snuggled and soon took a nap right on our son's lap - he was home.
Fast forward three years ahead, and here we are with the sweetest, calmest and most gentle little soul that brightens our world with licks and snuggles every day. I don't know who's happier to see each other after school everyday, our son or Ozzy. Oh, and of course, our son is no longer fearful of dogs. He actually wants to help them when he grows up, just like the Pet Alliance helps so many. We are forever grateful to the Pet Alliance for our sweetest furry member of our family.
