Your Pet's Rescue Story
A father and his little seven year old daughter discovered Lovey. She was sleeping in the tire well of his front tire in their front yard in a rural neighborhood. She was just a tiny little kitten possibly 2-3 weeks old, barely weighing a pound. There were no other siblings and no mama to be seen anywhere. They kept her overnight, hoping to see a momma come after her, but she never came. They realized that the kitten needed special care, and special food, and they wanted to get her to the right place. They drove forty minutes just to bring her to our no-kill rescue where she would get all of the medical attention, food, care and love needed. I was at the rescue's adoption event that day, volunteering. I was there with two other kitty fosters for their adoption day. I overheard our "lead" volunteer tell the father and daughter she wasn't sure we had room for another kitten. I saw the little girl's eyes begin to swell with tears. I listened as Dad explained how far they had to drive just to make sure the kitten would be at a no-kill rescue. I couldn't resist, I had to step in! I volunteered to take her! The little girl named her Lovey and that became her official name. Lovey turned into the most beautiful, loving cat that I have known.
