Your Pet's Rescue StoryThe Story of Mitch (the dog)
Once upon a time:
My wife and I wanted a fur baby to care for and after looking at all options we decided to rescue a dog from one of the many great rescue organizations. After weeks, actually months of meeting so many dogs (many of which I would have taken and fell in love with) my wife and I finally found a little boy we both immediately connected with. He looked at us in away that made you feel he was looking into our souls saying "we belong together". We love remembering that moment.
Since then it's been an incredible journey. Mitch has become the most amazing companion, protector and best friend. The way Mitch gets excited like it's Christmas morning everyday we wake up and every day we come home is like therapy for our souls. He often goes with us on our daily routines and is rarely left behind. Even the hint that we may be getting ready to go somewhere gets him excited. The thought of him not being in our lives is a completely foreign concept.
We often share our story of adopting Mitch when he makes contact and receives the typical love strangers lavish on him. It presents the perfect opportunity to encourage others to look for their fur baby though the many reputable rescue organizations in our community.
Our hope is that while Mitch is in our lives we will have the opportunity to share him with others as a therapy dog. He is currently in training and doing very well and we hope soon we can begin to share our story and soul therapy Mitch provides with children and the elderly in need of just that type of connection.
Side note. Mitch actually gets his name from a piece of luggage I not so lovingly gave this same name when I met my now bride (One day I'll share the whole story). We resurrected the name as it just felt right to both of us and it gave Mitch (the dog) an immediate connection to our family and our personal story.
Ps. Mitch (the luggage case) met his death at the curb and was picked up by our city's finest workers.
R.I.P. Mitch (the luggage).
Long live! Mitch (the dog).
Thank you kindly,
Ron and Cindy
