Your Pet's Rescue Story
Jameson is my perfect dog. He's a fawn colored Italian Greyhound-Boston Terrier mix with what I call "spilled milk" white coloring on his chest. I searched high and low for him and he is my perfect companion. He wakes me up early each morning to feed him, keeps me active by making sure I play with him or take him out walking, and he tells me it's bedtime at 10 p.m. sharp! That's when he nestles down to sleep right beside me each night.

Just after I graduated from law school, I wanted a rescue pup to join me as I began this new chapter in my life - work! It took me four months of active searching to find Jameson and anyone will attest-he's an awesome dog. Now, 10 years later, having the best companion anyone can ask for, I have stories galore that would endear this pup to anyone. But the one that brings me to tears has to do with Jameson's best friend, Kona. Kona, our Labrador-Greyhound mix, contracted bone cancer at the young age of 8 years old. And while we opted to put her through radiation to try to extend her life, Kona's health deteriorated slowly but surely. Jameson and Kona were best friends and I would say they truly loved each other. Jameson knew Kona was not doing well, and instead of insisting on his usual romps of fetch and chase the laser, he attended to Kona by laying with her, licking her when needed and just keeping her company as she went through her ordeal. Eventually, Kona passed, but during the months of treatment and surgeries and recuperation time, Jameson never left her side. When she had the energy, he was always willing to play with her, but the last two months were defining. As Kona's health slipped away, Jameson became even more attentive. Upon her death, Jameson was clearly sad, but it was as if he knew she was dying because he did not mope, but rather turned his attentions to us as the mourners. He sat with us, kissed us and made us get up to play again, like before Kona had gotten ill. Now, it has been 1.5 years since her passing and he still keeps me active, demands to go on walks or chase the laser or fetch his tennis balls. I know that whatever happens in my life, it has been so much happier with Jameson by my side.
