Your Pet's Rescue StoryWhen I walked into the shelter, I was immediately drawn to this cat that seemed to be hiding from the energy and excitement of the other cats in the room. He looked so depressed and his ribs were starting to show as if he had stopped eating. I learned that after living with a family for eight years, the cat had been dropped off at the shelter because the family was moving and couldn't take him with them. I decided to give him a new start and a new name-Berkley. I thought I was adopting a cat that would take some work to become affectionate. Well, it didn't take long at all before Berkley opened up and showed me his true personality. He is such a loving, affectionate and intelligent cat. After a hard day, I know I can always count on Berkley to greet me at the door when I come home and to snuggle next to me in bed at night. At 14 years old now, Berkley still occasionally plays like a kitten, but our favorite pastime is just sitting on the couch and watching a movie. I hate that Berkley had to experience being abandoned at a shelter, but I truly feel that we were meant to be together. He has enriched my life in so many ways and I can not imagine my life without him. Berkley truly is my best friend.
