Your Pet's Rescue StoryBacchus John Werner
One Saturday in February 2017 I happened upon the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando website and flipped through the pictures of dogs available for adoption. That is when I saw Junior…and it was love at first sight.
He was one of eight puppies in a litter that was surrendered on a Tuesday and within four days only four puppies remained. I immediately sprang into action — clearing my calendar, making myself presentable, completing my paperwork and literally racing to Sanford in order to be there as soon as they opened.
I made it with 15 minutes to spare and was giddy at the excitement of meeting the little guy. A volunteer was eager to help and led me to the puppies, fished Junior out of the puppy pile and handed the warm little fur ball over to me. With one puppy lick to the ear and look into his soulful eyes I simply knew he was meant to be a part of our family.
Junior (now Bacchus John Werner) is thriving and has added so much joy to our lives. We are training to be a therapy team with the goal of sharing his special gift of lifting spirits with people that need it most.
We are thankful to the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando on so many levels; for keeping Bacchus healthy and safe, for hosting the online picture gallery, for having knowledgable and helpful volunteers, for ensuring we had all of the information we needed on adoption…the list goes on and on.
We truly can’t thank you enough and plan to pay it forward when we pass our therapy team evaluation in January.
With gratitude,
Dawn Werner
