Your Pet's Rescue StoryMaggie the Siberian Husky was found by a friend in the woods of Charleston, SC. She was a pup covered in mud and urine. He cleaned her up, took her to a vet, and tried to find her owner, to no avail. He adopted her for two years until he moved to South Florida and could no longer care for her. He asked us to adopt her since we had babysat Maggie before and loved her. We have loved Maggie ever since! Maggie has had some health issues. She had a collapsed lung about five years ago, which required major exploratory surgery, removal of some bad lobes, and a long time of healing. But she has recovered well. About two and a half years ago, she developed diabetes. She needs an insulin shot with her meal every morning and evening. We researched a low glycemic diet for her. She now gets a half patty of Primal Raw Chicken and a half cup of Nutrisca Chicken & Chickpea dry food every meal. Our vet, who is great, is amazed at how well this low glycemic diet has worked. Maggie is now eleven years old and doing very well. She has become quite the social pup, going everywhere she can with us. Everyone in the Dr Phillips area knows her. She has even started her own Facebook page, Maggie's World!
