Dog - My Best Friend Rescue Red
Your Pet's Rescue StoryGizmo was a six month old pound puppy when I got him. I knew I wanted to rescue a pup but wasn’t sure what kind. Gizmo “gopher” hopped up, on two legs in his crate, the second I approached his cage. He was quiet, but enthusiastic. His tail was wagging a mile a minute, and all he wanted to do was jump up and lick my face. I immediately knew he was the one. I never imagined I would walk home with a dog when I went in to “browse” that day. Gizmo saved me just as much as I saved him. He is my best friend to this day. Later I discovered that he would have been up for euthanization the next day, had I not taken him home. Four separate families had adopted him and brought him back all within a two week time span because of his “hyperactive” personality. The saying is true, like puppy, like owner. My active lifestyle and personality meshed perfectly with his. For this reason, I decided to rename him Gizmo. (I think his adopted name was Paluche?) For anyone who has seen the movie “The Gremlins”....Gizmo fits his name sake. He is going on six years old now, but even to this day, right around midnight, Gizmo catches his second wind and sprints in circles around the loft in our home. The two of us love to go on runs together, but once the energy levels out, he loves to snuggle under the covers with me at bedtime. When he’s not running around playing, Gizmo can be found running across table tops, sneaking food off of people’s plates, or initiating a game of tug of war with his very large younger sister, Katrin (also a rescue puppy). At the end of the day Gizmo is a blessing in my life, and a gift to this family. I love him more than words can describe and think he is absolutely the perfect best friend.
