Your Pet's Rescue Story
Katrin was rescued after her Mom, Samantha, camped out overnight at a pet store in order to be first on the list for adoptions. She arrived around 9pm as the store was closing in order to be able to claim first choice. Around 10pm another women arrived. As she stepped out of the car she yelled across the lot that the Irish Wolfhound puppy was hers and that if that is the dog Sam wanted she should go ahead and leave. This lady tried everything from verbally harassing her by m, to going over all of the expenses and claiming that she would be too much of a hassle for Samantha. As dawn was soon approaching she even proceeded to try and scratch off Sams name to try to get the first choice. Luckily, the pet store managers had seen Sam and told the adoption agency of her supposed record early arrival and stay overnight and that she was to be first, not the other lady. Her efforts were not finished however as she even tried to bribe the adoption agency’s representative, who quickly rebuked her efforts. Katrin was the very last dog to be walked out and placed for show to be adopted and was quickly selected by Samantha. We were then told that she had not been eating food and was already sick and on two medications. When she got home we gave her a bath, which she then started shaking uncontrollably. She was laid outside in the front yard in the sun and snuggled by us as she seemed incredibly cold. We didn’t think she was going to survive having been given a hot bath and then stepping out into the world. After a day of two of only eating one boiled chicken breast and drinking minimal water she finally realized that she was at her forever home and began to eat. We almost thought that the crazy lady may have been right about the expenses as Katrin could eat-still does too!! She is now happy and healthy and full grown, albeit slightly rambunctious as a one year old. She is a mix of some sort and so far is only 46 lbs, but her joy is worth the weight of the world. We are very happy that the camping trip overnight at the pet store paid off, and more importantly that we are the proud owners of Katrin! Our lives wouldn’t be the same without her...
