Your Pet's Rescue Story
I am a runner. On a Saturday morning in September I met a group of friends for a run, but had to peel off early for home. Running a route back to my neighborhood that I never take, I see a fur ball in the distance running his heart out behind a minivan exiting the neighborhood. Thinking a family dog had accidentally gotten out of the house and was frantically chasing his people, I followed him up a hill to make sure he didn’t get close to the busy street. When I finally found him, wet, dirty, exhausted...and wary of me...I knew my assumption was wrong. No collar. Not neutered. Long nails but thankfully not too underweight, this dog looked pathetic. I gained his trust and picked him up, then carried him a mile home to my house. I gave him food and water but he wanted nothing to do with it. His scared and distrusting face was heartbreaking. I quickly posted his photo and description on local Facebook Lost Pet sites—his information was shared to 7 sites that day. I took him to the vet for a microchip scan—nothing. We posted flyers in a 1 mile radius around the neighborhood. Nothing. After four days of him lifting his leg on our furniture (clearly trying to claim his spot amongst our five other dogs), we took him to be neutered and get his shots. A week later, with no response to any of our postings, we knew Harry was here to stay. His pathetic, scared little face is now all smiles. He loves his people, his canine brothers and sisters, and his hairless cat! Kismut brought him to us almost two years ago, and here at his furever home he’ll stay!
