Your Pet's Rescue Story
It’s been over three years since my sweet Gracie cat died. My daughter asked me if I wanted to go to the Pet alliance on a June Saturday. We walked in and I saw the back of a tabby cat. I wanted to see her face. The volunteer put her in my lap. She curled up and she was mine.

She felt warm that day but she really got sick after we got home. Saw the emergency vet but she was not better. Rachel at the Pet Alliance said they would take her in and nurse her back to health. 18 days later she called and said it was time to pick her up.

I was scared. I can’t pill cats. I can’t even drive to the vets. But when you name a cat she’s yours. I call her Maggie the Cat. Named for the character Maggie in Tennessee Williams’ play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof played so well by Elizabeth Taylor in the movie. But also named for Maggie: Girl of the Streets by Stephen Crane. Crane believed environment determines our lives. Maggie had 5 kittens before she was 1. All five were adopted while she sat in a cage . Finally Maggie May by Rod Stewart inspired her name. Any cat of mine will be a rock and roll cat.
Gracie was elegant and loving. Maggie is wild scaling the great heights in my apt. I love them both . And this is my tale of two kitties.
