Cat - My Best Friend Rescue White
Your Pet's Rescue StoryI believe that some people and pets are meant to be together - that no matter the obstacles, there’s a special alchemy that brings them together. I lost my sweet Ferris, a beauty of an orange tabby, suddenly and unexpectedly on July 1st. I still had two cats, and have had others in the past, and decided not to replace Ferris and eventually endure the pain of another loss.
Because I love animals, I get many emails about cats who need homes. Usually I don’t open them, not wanting to see the needs of a cat I can’t currently help. Yet when I saw an email with the subject line “Please help Marina, the one-eyed kitty,” I was compelled to open it. There was a photo of a beautiful gray and white female cat who had been rescued from a cat colony at the busy corner of Highway 50 & Goldenrod.
The Trap-Neuter-Release angel, Blair, had taken her to a veterinarian who determined this sweet girl had been kicked in the head, causing permanent damage to one eye. After the surgery to remove the eye, Blair took her home to recuperate, but couldn’t keep her, and reached out to my friend so Marina wouldn’t wind up back on the street.
Whatever urged me to open that email, pushed me to meet her and it was love at first sight (pun intended). Because she looks like she’s winking at me, I changed her name to Wink. She fit in immediately with the rest of the family. She’s already bonded with Smudge and Chica, my other two cats, and sleeps at the foot of my bed. She loves to talk and purr, and she especially loves catnip.
Although my heart still aches missing Ferris, when a friend mentioned she thought Ferris had sent Wink to me, to help ease my pain, I knew she was right. Giving this beautiful, damaged cat a safe and loving forever home has already helped me begin to heal. And I know that’s exactly what Ferris would have wanted!
